Coming soon...
Please stand by. We are in the process of editing lots of pictures for a huge update. We've been escaping the heat all weekend in a cabin up in Pine, so we are now even further behind!
Addendum: (9/26/2007) I'm still working to get completely up to date (I'm behind -- what's new???) but there are several new posts in chronological order below. Enjoy, and don't forget to leave us comments! We love hearing from you.

Ben and Shane's Excellent Adventure
The guys had a blast doing "man" things while we were in Pine for the weekend. Sherrie and Carter and I hung out in the cabin while they took out their guns and went looking for elk and other wildlife to shoot......I mean photograph. They were just like little boys unleashed on the "wilderness" and making the most of it. Click here to find out what really happened after they had been out in the sun too long!

Our first night in Pine
We rented a cabin in Pine, AZ with our friends Ben and Sherrie to escape the Phoenix heat for a few days. This was the view off of the deck that surrounds the cabin. Look at all those stars! Shane and Ben really enjoyed taking these "starry night" pictures since you could see so many stars. This was also when we first heard the bugling of the huge herd of elk nearby.

Trying on Halloween with Brad and playing with Daddy
Carter was so excited when "Nana" Claudia and "Uncle" Brad (Shane's aunt and cousin) came over to visit this afternoon. We tried on the two Halloween costumes we had for him and this one is the winer. In fact, the Tigger costume cousin Landon wore last year was already much to small. Carter loved the costume and didn't want to take it off despite the fact that he was sweating like mad. Had fun playing with Daddy after work today, too! These days CJ all but hyperventilates when Daddy comes home.

Family Pictures/Carter's One Year Pictures
We are so happy to have had our family photos done by the fabulous Maria Nissen. We originally wanted to have photos done to commemorate Carter being a year old, but it turned into a shoot for the entire family, and we could not be more pleased with the results, especially considering the fact that Carter was hungry and tired and utterly ornery and we got some great shots anyway! Please enjoy the full album by clicking here.

Meg's 27th Birthday
For Meg's 27th birthday, we tried to celebrate as much as we could. As it tends to, September 2nd fell over the Labor Day weekend. On Saturday, we spent the day in cool Payson, AZ with our friends Ben and Sherrie. In anticipation of our day trip, I knew I would not have time on Saturday to get gifts for Meg, so I brought her flowers and chocolates when I came home for lunch Friday. On Sunday, Meg's actual birthday, we went to church (of course) and then had a really nice birthday dinner at Joe and Claudia's. Since Dan's birthday is later in the week, we were celebrating both Meg and Dan's birthdays that night. Monday night, we got all dressed up nice and went to The Melting Pot, a fancy fondue joint, with Dan and Brittney to continue the birthday celebration. Claudia took the picture of us together when we dropped CJ off with her before dinner. Overall, it was a really fun long weekend together.

Payson, AZ with Ben & Sherrie
We were getting so sick of the heat. Phoenix had broken it's own record for the number of days it had been over 110 degrees and it was like a whole month. We were thrilled when our friends Ben and Sherrie invited us to accompany them to Payson for the day. Payson, about 1.5 hours north of here, was about 30 degrees cooler than Phoenix. We spent the day at the park we took these pictures at and then antiquing. Later in the evening, we enjoyed dinner and a live local band performing at the famous and supposedly haunted Main Street Grille in Payson. We ate out on the patio and it was absolutely divine! It felt so nice to almost need a sweatshirt! Carter loved being outside, especially chasing the ducks and geese at the park. Also, check out the home we saw in Payson and the accompanying sign...
