Ward Halloween Party

Since I am on the activities committee in the ward, I was in charge of taking pictures of families in their costumes during the Halloween party. Kind of embarrassing since there are multiple professional photographers in the ward, one of which brought his fancy-pants huge camera with him to shoot his family at the party. It felt like in Crocodile Dundee when the guy pulls a little knife and Dundee says, "that's not a knife, this is a knife!" and holds up a huge machete-like knife. Like I said, embarrassing.

Shane got out the old Napoleon Dynamite costume again this year. I didn't dress up this year strictly because with setting up the church, etc. I didn't have time to find a costume. So I wore orange and black and put my fake glasses on for fun. Well, I walked in and Claudia (Shane's aunt) started laughing at me and said, "I know who you are, you're Bethany!" Bethany is a girl in our ward. I guess I did kind of look like her. You can see that I got a picture with my "twin" Bethany.

Office Trick-or-Treat 2007

Carter's first attempt at trick-or-treating was pretty crazy. He didn't get that he was supposed to politely take a piece of candy at each cubicle and put it into his bag. Instead, he just ran up and down the rows of cubicles, only veering off into cubes that looked like easy candy grabs. He would take candy at one cube and then run and trade it for candy that looked bigger or shinier at another cube. He only slowed down when he saw an unsuspecting kid holding their candy out as if to say, "here you go, grab this and run off with it, please." I am learning that my child is not the kindest or well-mannered at this point. We have a lot of work to do!

Costumed Dan & Brittney

Dan & Brittney (Shane's cousin) came over tonight to show us their costumes after a party. In case you can't tell, Dan was Ralphy from Christmas Story and Britt was Peter Pan.

Crazy Hair Day

Did you ever have crazy hair days in elementary school?? I did, and they were my favorite. Carter decided to have a crazy hair day today. It was just like this when he woke up this morning. That's some bed head!!! Or as Shane likes to say, Carter had a visit from "Dave the midnight hair dresser."

Pumpkin Carving FHE

Joe, Claudia, and Brad and Ben and Sherrie all came over to carve pumpkins with us and have dinner for family night. It was fun, although we know our pumpkins might not even make it to Halloween in the heat we are experiencing these days!

Schnepf Family Farms Pumpkin Party 2007

We had so much fun visiting Schnepf Farms again, this year with our friends Ben and Sherrie. The food was good and we got lost in the corn maze. We all enjoyed the fresh hot pumpkin donuts and
caramel apple pie!The boys had fun riding the go carts. Carter loved the petting zoo and mini maze. He also picked his very first pumpkin! It's nice to know that even when it's in the 90's during the day, we can still experience a little bit of Fall fun here in Arizona!

The beginning of the shoe love

I know this is a terrible picture, but it's all I have that shows Carter wearing my shoe. He does this every day. He takes a bunch of shoes out of the shoe basket by the front door and tries them on or carries them around. He loves shoes right now!

TAGGED!

The rules:
A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

I was tagged by Aubrey Sorenson -- so here goes nothing:

1. I am obsessed with seasons, especially Autumn/Fall and Spring. I am pumpkin, leaf, and sweatshirt weather crazy right now. I really miss seasons here in Arizona, so I try to live the seasons up as much as I can in food I prepare and eat, decorations in my home, etc. For example, I have made pumpkin dessert, pumpkin apple muffins, and lots of soups this month already, I put up pumpkin and leaf decorations in the house, and we plan to go to a local family farm this weekend for their pumpkin and chili party. Love it!

2. I am scared out of my mind of spiders, snakes, and scorpions. We've had two scorpions in our house here this year, but since then, Shane goes scorpion hunting every night around our building to keep them away. My knight in shining armor!

3. One of my lifetime goals is to be published -- to have one of my scrapbook layout published in Creating Keepsakes Magazine and/or a card published in Paper Crafts Magazine.

4. A dream profession of mine would be to be a photographer. I wish I would have started training younger. I couldn't take photo class in high school like I wanted because I was in concert choir and yearbook and couldn't take another elective. I love to take pictures, but wish I was better educated in photography so that I could turn my hobby into a business.

5. Most of you already know this -- I click. My mechanical heart valve (installed Dec. 2003) has fooled people into thinking I am wearing a loud watch on occasion. I totally lose at hide and seek now if I hide in a bathroom because I can be heard clicking -- particularly if I run to the hiding spot.

6. I threw the shot put my senior year in high school. Eek!

Now I tag: Shane, Katie, Emily, Alycia, Jen, and Deya! :)

Crashed out on the floor...

Carter has never done this before, but on this particular day, he was not feeling so great. He even snuggled with me a lot that day, and when that kid holds still for any length of time, you know he's got to be under the weather! Anyway, he was so mellow that day, that he just sat on the ground and played or watched TV when we weren't snuggling. I turned around for a few minutes to make lunch and he fell fast asleep! Poor boy!

Dam Visitor's Center (in Page, AZ on the way to UT)

Carter and I drove with Claudia, Brittney, and Bradley to Utah for about a week-long visit. About halfway there, we stopped at the Dam Visitor's Center in Page to get out and stretch our legs. Carter was beyond enthusiastic about getting out of the car to run free and play in the fountain with Brad for a few minutes.

Oh, and as a side note, I still can't get over how much I love that shirt CJ is wearing-- in case you can't read it, it says: "My dad's a geek."
