Pirate's Booty

A while back, I read about the FREE biweekly kid's clinic that Lowe's offers from our friends James and Cali's blog. I checked it out and was excited to see that they would be building a treasure chest for the next one. Carter couldn't stop talking about it the day before, even though he had never gone. They gave him the apron and goggles free, as well as the kit with pre-drilled holes for the nails to make it easy on little hands.

The Arizona Experience
Megan's away for a couple of days, so I'm hijacking the blog today.
Those of you who have never been to Phoenix, in the summer, are missing an experience that you find in few places in this country. Today you'll get the next best thing.
Picture a nice, overcast summer evening. Now, preheat your oven to about 300. (Yeah, you know where I'm going with this, but humor me.) While the oven's heating, grab your blow dryer.
. . . . . .Ok, the oven's hot.
Now, you're inside your nice A/C chilled house and you want to go out for a walk now that the sun's down. You open your front door (cue: open the oven door and think of that picture) to check out the temperature. (That nice warm blast of air is really what it feels like to open the door). Hmmm. It seems unreasonably hot, considering the sun has already set, but you notice the trees are waving a bit, so maybe the breeze will help. You step outside (you guessed it, turn the blow dryer on now and wave it around your face) and realize the breeze seems to be even hotter than the outside temperature. How can that be?
This experience is what kept us inside for most of our first summer here and made us wonder whether we actually had neighbors or not.
Since then we've accepted that it's just going to be hot and there is nothing we can do about it, so we've come to enjoy the Arizona summer in all it's fury. We love going to the zoo, going on famly walks, and most of all swimming! The pool is really the only thing that takes the edge off the heat and we never get tired of the water. So, if this exercise has turned you off to the idea of visiting us in the summer. No worries. Just bring your suit! We have a few pools down here.
Foho Family Reunion 2009 Part Three: Choices
Here's my cute momma:

It was really interesting to be able to watch my siblings help their children make choices since I didn't have Carter and Shane with me at the reunion. They are all great examples to me.

Conversation overheard (bewtween a brother of mine and his daughter -- NOT the ones pictured above):
Daughter (admiring a box of fake nails almost reverently):
OOOOOooooooh! These are so pretty!
Father:
For you or for the poor children?
Daughter (without pause and in cheerful voice):
For ME!!!

No wonder his child was crawling away as fast as possible! (Just kidding Chad!) Baby Crew enjoyed his brief escape across a trampoline wonderland.
