Alright how did you do it??? All of my kids still scream when they see Santa. Case is now 6 too! Totally impressed....
The funny thing is, we had a hard time getting him to stay on Santa's lap, not because he was freaked out by him, but because there were lots of big glittery things to try to grab around Santa -- ornaments on the tree, big glittery statues of snow scenes, etc. So Carter mostly just wanted to explore and sitting still on Santa's lap was cutting in on his exploration time!
