big storm

Monsoon season here is always interesting! Last night we had a gigantic storm come through. Majorly loud thunder and a ton of lightning scared Carter a bit at first, but we let him have a flashlight, powered everything down, opened the blinds, and watched. He loves watching storms once he can tell we are okay with the noise and light flashes. It lasted a while, and it was strong. As we watched, limbs just started peeling off the tree in font of our home. This picture shows some of the branches that were ripped off the tree and blown into our neighbor's entryway. Once things calmed down, Shane went out and pulled all the branches away from their door and into the middle of the courtyard so they could get in/out the door. This was how it looked the next morning before the clean-up crews came through. It probably doesn't look too bad to those of you who get hurricanes, etc. However, just across the street an entire tree came down by our mailbox. Down the street a little further a huge one uprooted into the road. When I went walking with Carter, there were just trees and branches down everywhere. Carter keeps saying, "Oh no! Trees broken!" Again, not really bad, but definitely not wimpy. I'm grateful we were safe at home when it hit!

Wow that was a big wind storm. That was cute to give him a flashlight. My kids like to sleep in our bed when storms hit. That is only fun for a while cause I do enjoy my space to sleep. I have heard those wind storms are pretty strong, and I am glad you guys were home and safe.
