These pictures aren't very exciting, but they say a lot to me. Today, Carter found a brand new almost completely full tube of his eczema cream and bit through it in a matter of a couple of minutes while I was in the kitchen. I looked in to check on him (because it had gotten too quiet for me to be at ease) and there is Carter with the tube in his mouth and cream all over his face ad hands. He sees me and runs behind the arm of the couch and begins wiping the cream from his hands onto the couch. Great. Oh well for the couch. I was worried because the stuff is obviously not supposed to be eaten and it appeared that the tube was substantially less full than it should have been (see pictures of undisturbed new tube vs. new tube that's been attacked by Carter and notice beautiful teeth marks)! I proceeded to try to clean as much out of Carter's mouth and off of his face as I could, and then I called poison control -- yes, that's the second time in the last 30 days we have needed their expertise (
see here for last encounter)! Thankfully, it wasn't enough to hurt him at all and he was fine, but I was glad to hear that they don't keep track of how often you call poison control...

So I hang up with poison control, sort of proud that I was smart enough to give him a bottle before calling (because the first thing they told me to do was give him liquids). Remember how pride can be not such a good thing? Maybe this day is supposed to be one of those days where you learn lessons, like not to be prideful. Carter was on the couch and shaking the last of his bottle onto the cushions. There is a huge puddle of milk all over the couch and dripping off into the bucket of blocks by the couch (see picture). Let's just say that we spent a lot of time in time-out today... including after Carter tried to bite me each time I got him out of the crib after previous time-outs. Good times!

Sounds like one heck of a day!
I felt like we were in and out of time-out all day long!
lol, yes good times, hee hee
actually I remember going in to get Madeline up from her nap one day (she was about 1 1/2yrs old) and I had left the diaper rash cream too close to the crib, so she was able to get ahold of it. It was ALL over the crib, mattress, her hands/arms, face and yes she had eaten quite a bit. I too called poison control. they just laughed and said 'liquids, she'll be fine'.
the joys of motherhood!
I once had to call poison control twice in a week and I was crying the entire time I was on the phone with them because I felt like such a bad mom...they assured me that I wasn't. Kids are really good at getting into things and their is no such thing as a child proof lid!
Megan!! Hello! Long time no write !! How have you been? Are you still at PCMB? I need your email address so I can email you and catch up. Mine is flipflops4sherri@yahoo.com. Great to hear from you and your little boy is soooo cute (even with the rash!). Hope to hear from you soon, Sherri
When I told the lady at poison control that it was the second time I'd called in in less than a month, she just chuckled and reassured me that they don't keep track. Phew.
Oh, the things I have to look forward to!Sounds like a rough day, but it does make for a good story...

Oh man, kids do crazy stuff! I always get worried when mine get quiet though...usually that's when I find them doing something they're not supposed to do. I'm glad though that the cream didn't hurt him. So far I haven't had to call poison control, knock on wood, which is a little surprising with how crazy my 2 year old is! Hope you were able to get the cream and milk off the couch :)
Sounds like you've had your hands full. So it looks like Carter was allergic to something in Mexico or did he have it before you guys went.
Kyle had ascema a couple weeks after he was born.. he looked like a pink giraffe.. it was sad.. but he hasn't had it as bad since. We just learned what he's allergic too.
