Carter wanted to help Shane so badly when he was hanging curtains and putting up the license plate border in CJ's room. He kept swiping Daddy's tools every chance he got and running off to do a little work of his own!
"We wait for things which, at the time, may appear so right, and so good to us, that we can't possibly imagine why Heavenly Father would delay the answer."
Waiting is one of the most difficult parts of the adoption process. Some great counsel on waiting, and learning patience in the process, is available in this talk by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

Here is our cousin friend, Mr. Pratt. He is thrilled to be outside and to have so many people to observe at this year's Easter Feast! Pratt and Monica were visiting Joe and Claudia over their Spring break. It was fun that they ended up being here for Easter.
The rest of the pictures are of Carter, Shane, and I enjoying the beautiful Spring day at Joe and Claudia's annual Mediterranean Easter Feast. (You'll notice Carter had a little help from Shane in finding eggs...)

Okay, so Carter was rummaging and found some old headphones. We were playing in his room and he got them out of a box we were storing in there while we organize the office. Well, the minute he finds them, he shoves them over his head and onto his neck as fast as he can and then takes off out of his room and running down the hallway into the living room with the cord dragging alongside him as he went. I followed him and saw him throw back his play table from the wall as quickly as he could and slide behind it. I couldn't believe my eyes. He started moving his hands around on the table and boppin' his head around like he was a DJ! Where the heck did he pick that up??? I picked my brain all day and I think I finally figured it out. There's a show on Nickelodeon called "Ni Hao, Kai-lan," which is kind of like a Chinese version of "Dora the Explorer." Well on the show last week, Kai-lan's friend, Hoho the monkey, busted out his equipment and became master of the turntables! I think I love "Ni Hao, Kai-lan!"
The above picture was just of such a cute smiley face while eating -- had to share! The below picture is SO Carter. He has always been such a "chill" kind of guy. Even as a tiny baby, he would always cross his legs at the ankles and lean back and hang out. Although he is much busier these days, he still relaxes in style! I think it's adorable.
And here he is "cleaning up" the mess he made by shaking the remains of his water out of his sippy cup onto his tray:
We attended the Annual Chandler Ostrich Festival this year with our friends Ben and Sherrie. We saw the ostrich, chicken, emu, camel, etc. races, Carter went through the petting zoo, Shane ate his first ostrich burger (and shared it with CJ), and we saw Collin Raye in concert. It got chilly later on during the concert, but we had a lot of fun! Maybe next year you all will think about making it a family trip to the ostrich fest!
Oh, and by the way, Shane ran the Ostrich Festival 5K last weekend and came in 2nd place in the men's division and 3rd over all! Hooray! Good job, Babe!

Parental Disclaimer: Please forgive our sweet, innocent toddler for his "flippant" behavior near the end of the clip. We are not teaching him to do this sort of thing by example. He was not doing it on purpose. He's merely showing me his fingers as asked. Also, you may think I am a mean mom because Carter freaks out a bit when he gets tired of me asking him to say things. I am not especially mean, he was just very tired and therefore very impatient with my demand for his performance. Please do not think I am a mean mother. :) With that said, please enjoy hearing just a few of the words and sounds in Carter's rapidly expanding vocabulary!
Hi Friends!
One of our hard drives crashed. Carter and I were playing in the living room one day and we heard some funny noises that sounded like clicks coming from the computer... Carter whipped around and asked, "wazzat?" Then it happened. No worries, though, as everything on it was backed up to the other one nightly. We just have a little set-back while the replacement is on it's way. We'll be back up and running soon!
Shane, Megan, and CJ

Shane's cousin, Brad, is currently starring as Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at a local youth theater. I've been lucky enough to get to go see the show twice now. Today we got to go see the show with Joe and Claudia and gang. Brad's sisters Aubri and Paige, and Paige's fiance Ben, were home from BYU for the weekend and a lot of other family and friends were there for the show as well.
