"We wait for things which, at the time, may appear so right, and so good to us, that we can't possibly imagine why Heavenly Father would delay the answer."
Waiting is one of the most difficult parts of the adoption process. Some great counsel on waiting, and learning patience in the process, is available in this talk by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

This is Shane's sister, Kim, and one of her two boys. We were glad to have them join us at the park. We love Carter's birth family and were excited for more of our family to be able to meet them. Mr. Everton was just being his cute, mellow, little self!
I just adore this picture of Carter for so many reasons.
And this one, too!
But this is the one that absolutely melts my heart. This is Carter giving his birth momma loves before she had to leave. He is always sweet with her and we love sharing a day with her every now and then when we have the chance. We drove up and spent 10 days in Utah from August 23rd to September 1st. One of the main reasons for the trip was that my sister Marci was bringing her oldest child (Eliza) from their home in Connecticut to begin her freshman year at BYU. Since Marci doesn't make it out west often, my brother Russ flew in for a couple of days from Spokane as well. In addition, my cousin Jessica was also coming to start school at BYU so my Aunt Rebecca brought her from Seattle along with the other kids (Daniel and Christy). Since my parents and two of my brothers, Rob and Kyle, already live in Utah Valley, it was almost a complete family gathering! We were sad that my brother Chad couldn't be with us. However, I'm thrilled that the reason he couldn't come was that his 5th child, a baby boy named Crew, was born just weeks before (good work, Nicole!). We also missed Russ' family, the rest of Marci's family, and Uncle Scott. Anyway, on Monday the 25th we had a big feast and family home evening together and that's what these pictures are from.
My niece, Holly, and her loose tooth.

That was last Wednesday.
I can't wait to get to Utah next week to try this with fresh tomatoes straight from the garden! Oh my watering mouth...
And CJ loved it too, every time. He is so cute! He was thrilled to get to go out on the patio to help Shane "cook a peesa" on the grill. He then insisted on eating his pizza at the patio table, despite the 106 degree heat at 6 pm. Shane agreed to stay out with him, but he really wanted me to be there too. I was dizzy in the heat, so what did I do? I sat on the other side of the glass sliding door where he could see and hear me while I sat inside and ate my delicious pizza. He kept yelling, "Mom!" I would yell back, "What, Buddy?" He would yell back, "Mmm yum!" or "Momma! Pizza! Wish-iss!" Wish-iss is how he says delicious.
Shane came home from work and I was making dinner. CJ was in the highchair. Shane said he could tell CJ was happy because his feet were crossed in his laid-back happy way. I think Shane was just trying to make me feel better because it had been kind of a long day and I was exhausted, but either way, it was sweet.
