Ruby's placement took place today as her birth mother signed relinquishment papers and we signed a placement agreement. It is such a bittersweet time as we are so overjoyed that she has joined our family, while our heart aches as we think of the selfless sacrifice her birth mother made. We feel an enhanced sense of responsibility to give our children the best life possible, as we are responsible not only to God for their care, but also to the women who put the ultimate trust in us - to be the parents of the children they brought to earth.
From here, the next step is called ICPC - Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children. This is where Michigan and Arizona will send documents back and forth before clearing Ruby to leave the state. We're hoping that things will go fast and we can be home within a week, but in some cases it can take much longer. We did a video chat with Carter tonight, and he can't WAIT to meet his new lil' sis.
