Carter caught on after Shane's office Halloween event last year. Every time we went to pick Shane up from work since last Halloween, Carter would tell me he wanted to go IN to Daddy's work, not just TO Daddy's work. We had to tell him over and over again all year long that it wasn't Halloween yet, but that we would be sure to take him back to Daddy's work when they gave out candy again. It was a close call. He almost got grounded from the party because he was being a bit naughty the morning of the big day, but we made it after all -- only an hour late!

The best part for us as parents was that Carter actually did what he was supposed to do -- went from cube to cube trick-or-treating and saying thank you (most of the time), without stopping to try and eat every piece of candy like last year. Miraculously, he also didn't try to trade each piece he was given in for bigger or better stuff this year.
